#1: ODB connection issue / SKID warning lamp Author: bigwul, Posted: Thu Sep 26, 2019 11:50 am ---- Just put my trusty old 98 plate 206 1.6 petrol back on the road - to give to my daughter - done loads new parts and all good.
The one fly in the ointment seems to be the SKID light - that when my local MOT station say it - rightly failed the car.
Problem they have - he says cannot access the OBD port.....
Just wondered if this is common.?
I do not know what system he uses - but says he has no issues with other Pug's....
Yes it would be good to connect OBD reader (just near the interior fusebox) to see which ABS sensor is at fault.
If the scanner they have doesn't work, maybe for a simple sanity-check they or someone else could try to plug-in the simplest fault reader, just to read off the codes.
You could get them cheap from ebay, the Bluetooth ones, that talk to your android/iphone via the Torque app.
The best would of course be to find someone with Peugeot Planet and check again. I reckon going to official dealership is off the table?
PS: And by 98 plate you meant the R or S plate? Just trying to see if you are in UK and if someone nearby with a PP2000 could help you out:)

What's the VIN of the 206?
It may have ABS fitted - the warning light will either say ABS or it will have a picture of the car skidding, the 206 has used both types of these warning lights over the years depending on spec.

The ABS light illuminates then goes out - the ESP is constant.

The other light is the Airbag light...!

Seems the box had become faulty - and had caused a short - removed the box - changed the fuse again - and working.

Hopefully / probably a sensor - and easy fixed.........car lives to fight another day.........
#20: Re: ODB connection issue / SKID warning lamp Author: gazza82, Location: South BucksPosted: Mon Sep 30, 2019 3:32 pm ---- I ended up buying PP2000 and the Lexia 3 cables for our 2001 206CC .. but I also had a Sealey diagnostic that was PSA compatible (did Renault too!). That one cost a bit but it saved me a wodge of money as the local Pug dealer wanted £80 + VAT a time to check .. even if it took 5 mins! 3 checks and it paid for itself (yup it was over £200 a few years back .. no longer available now unfortunately)
One Pug specialist I went to put my 2002 1.4 hdi on his Snap-On to sort out an airbag light (squib had failed!) but even he had problems connecting .. he was changing the tyres at the time and didn't charge me for the diag time!
With the older non-plex cars the diagnostics were "pug" customised .. when they moved to the multiplex in 2002 they updated it but you still can't get to the BSI unless you get PP2000. And they bury good stuff there!

For a 206 Planet is worth picking up, you can always do other PSA Peugeot / Citroen readings for friends to gain a beer or two.

head on this one looks well chewed - dunno if there is any chance to get any purchase on it - I have surface drive spanners - but even they looked like no good...
dunno if I can break away the old sensor to help - or just get straight on with the vice grips?

Happy days - hammered old one out - cleaned up the hole - new one fitted and no more warning light...........
