#1: All warning lights on and several error msgs Author: Tobbe321 PostPosted: Sat Feb 01, 2020 1:43 pm
    ----
In my 206-06 suddenly all warning lights are still on after start, including STOP.
Error messages are displayed for ABS, Brake, Antipollution, Airbag.
The car is still drivable and everything works ok, but without the speedo meter.
Only one OBD fault is found concerninng the speedo sensor.
Any suggestions of the root cause would be greatly appreciated
/Tobbe

What engine do you have? Any work completed recently/any incident (unexpected flood/large pothole/new tyres fitted etc) before this issue arose, And whereabouts are you?

ABS/brake/STOP all most likely related to the speed sensor, possible the airbags might throw a wobbler too if it can't tell if it's moving or not, and again maybe antipollution could be related too. It could conceivably also be a COMM2000 unit fault but let's not get into that just yet.

First thing I'd do, if this is all just out of the blue, is confirm your battery is in good health and fully charged since that can cause multiple issues. when that's checked/fixed as required then a BSI reset Like so would be my next step just to eliminate possible confusion in the computer.

Then I'd be looking into the speed sensor issue & sorting that (if the faults are immediate before you even drive off then it may not be the sensor itself but a wiring issue/bad connection but work logically back from the sensor using a multimeter)

If there are any remaining issues after fixing the speed sensor, then a session on PP2000 would be a must, in my opinion. (actually, it'd be a better bet to get it on there now since it can provide better clues as to where the fault/s actually lie).

Thank you for the answer!

The engine is Sport 1,6 ltr petrol.

The battery is all new and fully charged (12,7V in idle state).

I did the BSI reset earlier today, but with somewhat shorter waiting times according to another procedure I found somewhere else.
I will try anoher reset BSI again tomorrow following your link.

The next step, if problem still there, will probably be to consult a proper Peugeot garage for help.
I will be back for results.

Many thanks so far!

Did the BSI reset again this morning following the procedure in your link.
But without any change, the warning lights and error messages are still there.

I guess I have to leave it to the Peugeot garage to determine the problems and solution.
Maybe it is the ECU (expensive?) or just some earth connection.

Anyway, I will report the result here for information.

Thank you for the attention of my problem so far!

If there's anyone nearby you with PP2000 then its worth a try asking them first before paying dealer prices. I'd be 99% sure most of the issues are down to the speed sensor fault, it's just knowing whether it's the sensor itself or wiring/fuse.

Interested to know the outcome of this whatever happens, just to confirm for my own knowledge really if the speed sensor could cause an airbag or antipollution warning or if there's separate faults.

With so many lights on, have a check of your earth leads and make sure they are all grounded properly. (Main one is usually between engine and gearbox).

It's that time of year where they tend to give way (they were produced only just long enough out of the factory). I think I've seen some examples where they appear okay, but might even need removing and cleaning up (mounting points too).

That is a good point, I'd forgotten about the earth leads fracturing. There was a spate of them going a few years back but not heard much about it since, lightly used cars could still be coming out of the woodwork though.

Thank you for these suggestions.
I will check the earth leads in the coming days when I find the time.
An idea is to use jump start cables from the battery minus to engine and gearbox. Maybe that would tell me if problem found.
I´ll be back with the result.

So I've checked the earth lead from battery to gearbox and chassie - no change and problem still there.

So this morning I drove the car to the Peugeot garage and now they just called back and said they have found the problem.
They claim it is the ABS Hydraulic Pump that fails and causes all the other faults.
A new part is very expensive (around £1000) but they will try to find a used part that matches my car.
Hopefully this will be much cheaper and solve the problem.

Whay are your reactions to this?

I will get back with final results.

I have to confess I've not heard of this before but could be plausible... I'd get a second opinion though since it's strange to hear of an ABS unit causing so many warnings & I'd want to be 100% sure it wasn't something more simple like a fuse or speed sensor before spending so much.

If you do decide to go with replacing the ABS unit, perhaps you could post up the part number that you need & I'll have a look at the one I recently took from a car I broke to see if it matches. You'd be welcome to that for the price of postage if it'll work.

Also, whereabouts are you located? Possible you might find someone on here that could get it on PP2000 as well.

The Peugeot guys say that the ABS unit failure causes the other safety faults in a "chain" like also brake, speed and airbag. That seems to be somehow likely to me.
I will let them find the used spare, which according to them has to be compatible in terms of chassie numbers.

Many thanks for the option of your part! But as I am in Stockholm Sweden I will wait for the answer and pricing from the Peugeot garage.

The story goes on...

that would be a long PP2000 cable from UK! Laughing

Yes, I guess the wireless technique is not ready for that (yet...)

So, Mr. Scarymistake if you're reading... The challenge has been laid down, long-distance wireless VCI/computer interface *without* DB/Lexia/PP2000 getting wind that it's online again & bricking itself Wink

Hopefully this is the end of this story...

Today I fetched the 206 from the Peugeot workshop, now without any fault messages!

It was the ABS pump unit failing and they managed to find a matching used unit for the price of £210.
Of course there was additional charge fo the labour as well.

Apparently the ABS pump is the first, or anyway central, in the "safety chain". So a fault there may cause false fault messages from the others like in my case braking, antipollution, airbag, and lack of speedometer.

Hope this may help any other with the same symptoms.

Thank you for your attention and suggestions!
