#1: rain water under rear seats Author: Richardf, Location: Southampton UKPosted: Fri Mar 27, 2020 10:29 am ---- I have thankfully cured this problem after long tests and investigation as to how rain found its way under the rear seats. Hope it helps someone else here that may have the same problem.
I found, eventually, the rain was trickling from the extreme rear corners of the boot area, running down the groove under the matting and collecting under the rear seats.
Further investigation showed it coming down through the area under the rear hatch door seal, actually in between the pressed steel sheets where they join each other and spot welded in places.
My actual cure was this: remove the hatch door seal (its a bit tight but will pull off) and fill all the narrow gaps around the whole area with sealant, any sealant, Bostik window sealant, builders window sealant etc., as long as it is the type that will cure in ambient conditions. Then push the door seal back on. My test after the fix was using the garden hose for about 10 mins and not a drop came through. Still all dry this morning.
