Hi everyone,I’m new to the site so go easy on me.. Very Happy
I’m currently running a 2001 s16 138 206 gti(and a 1990 1.6 205 gti but that’s for another site).Ive just done a oil,oil filter and spark plug change but on running her up again she’s running rough, idle speed is steady but put your on the accelerator and I can feel she’s holding back(emissions warning light has come on).Ive plugged in diagnostics and it’s telling me it’s a random misfire!.I know I’ve used NGKs but that’s what came out(which plugs are best and part number if possible).I didn’t check gap but I’m presuming they’re preset(what is the gap?).Any ideas on where to start?.Thanks in advance.

New plugs should be pre-gapped but that doesn't always mean some numpty hasn't dropped on in teh stores ..

When I changed the plugs in our 2.0 CC (138 same engine as yours) I fitted Bosch Super 4s and never had another problem with them. That meant you also didn't have to be too concerned about which coil pack was fitted or supplied .. I don't have the plug part numbers now ..

Thanks Gazza,I’m gonna check the gap first and then work backwards, maybe go for a new coil pack.

I think it's the Sagem and NGK plugs that gives the trouble

hi gazza, checked the gaps on the plugs this morning, unless there is a 0.00000000000001 of a gap on a plug then I’m guessing that they had been dropped somewhere.
