I've seen kits where you can buy replacement shafts to go in the end of the beam on the rear suspension:
How is the old shaft removed from the beam?

Couple of good youtube vids.
PSA Optimal in Germany and another one from France.
The PSA/Optimal idea seems the most elegant.
They do it with the backend in situ (and have a very strong German called Hans !!!)
I have seen a quote from someone who used a sledge hammer...……
The axle/shaft in the pic above doesn't look too bad. I have seen/had far worse than that.

Ta. Cars back together now, new bearings on the shaft pictured and seems OK.
