#1: Refitting the OS driveshaft Author: doctor924, Posted: Mon Sep 20, 2021 3:15 pm ---- Hello everyone
I've been working through a list of faults on a 206 cc and thought I had fixed the last batch (bad wheel bearing, leaking oil seal on the driveshaft and torn CV boot). However, I have hit a problem in refitting the driveshaft that i have no seen talked about when searching the forum.
Removing the driveshaft was Ok - a little encouragement needed on the shaft to get it out but otherwise fine.
Upon reassembly though, i am not sure the driveshaft is now seated home fully. It seems to be 1 mm or so proud of the new oil seal compared to what it was before. The seals were the same thickness and it sits flush with the gearbox casing.
Nothing I could do would seem to push the shaft in further. I can manually turn the shaft Ok and feel the box turn too. With everything back together, the wheel now seems to stick out a little too far. I had a little difficulty in fettling the control arm balljoint back into the hub as the replacement hub I had, had slightly thicker casting around where the balljoint connects.
Have I missed something in reseating the driveshaft?
The deflector sits in its grove fine and there is about 1mm showing of the shaft after the deflector space that to my mind should be further into the gearbox...?
Thank for your thoughts.
