Catcy: 1.4 HDi, bought for £50 with "dead ECU"

Back in 2020 my garage mate called up saying there's an 02 plate 206 with 83k going for £50 just down the road, non-starter, looking sorry for herself:

My immediate reaction was "I've already got one project too many", but the 1.4 HDi intrigued me, because there are quite a few brilliant minds on here owning one, and I always wondered why.

After a quick search in the forum, turns out that this wee little engine is nippy off the mark, tunable, ~£20 year road tax, cheap insurance, and so the next day we towed her to the unit:)

Set myself up to gamify this project and do everything with minimal expenditures.

Quick blast from the pressure, photographing while still wet:)

Will be posting adventures of how I tried to bring her to life.

At present the car is a runner, and I'd like to offer her to someone on this forum (needs a few bits done to pass MOT though). If no takers, I'll probably be breaking into parts, because a mate is after the shell to build something like this: youtu.be/o6nobuceVd8 Very Happy

£50, what a find! Looking forward to seeing how you fixed her up.

Hi Sim,

Great to see the £50 1.4 HDi has finally got it's own dedicated forum page. Seems to have cleaned up very nicely after the pressure wash and look forward to see the story. Not sure if somebody here is going to take her once you are finished but might be interesting to see what happens. Smile

Now this i can't wait to see!
Always been interested in these little diesels, particularly now that I've been driving a larger one.
