#2: Re: 206 1.4 HDI alternator change Author: Sim, Location: West CountryPosted: Wed Sep 06, 2023 7:31 pm ---- Some 1.4 HDis have an aluminium heat shield (lined with resistant material), once that's out, removing power steering pump should be easier due to better clearance that your turbo design allows.
If you unclip the power steering hoses (low and high pressure), you should be able to move the PAS pump out of the way just enough to get to the alternator bolts.
Saving you from flushing the power steering fluid.
But if high-pressure pipe must get undone, then at least try not to disconnect the bottom low-pressure rubber hose, because without special tools I could never refit it without trickle leaks thereafter.
Take care of the spacer and collar bits surrounding some PAS pump and alternator bolts, some of them do not need to be undone completely to remove the components, also ensure they go back in the same way round on the bolt.
I recall GSF Car Parts selling alternators with surcharge, than they then refund you upon giving up your old broken alternator to them.

To be precise, if you unclip the brackets that hold them, to maneuver them out, i.e. avoid unscrewing/removing them pipe/hose from the PAS itself, if possible.
It's a tight work (if you don't do "the front fell off" approach), and access from underneath the car is just as important (the A/C pump doesn't need to be removed).
