Is it from Mercedes or MCS ?
#141: Re: GTi Track Car Author: Seb, Location: Under your bedPosted: Wed Jun 22, 2011 1:05 pm ---- It's not a Cooper charger. Or at least nothing like the one I had in mine.
#142: Re: GTi Track Car Author: macj, Location: EssexPosted: Wed Jun 22, 2011 1:14 pm ---- Its an Eaton charger..... very nice
#143: Re: GTi Track Car Author: st3v3n, Location: Liverpool Drives: 206 GTiPosted: Wed Jun 22, 2011 1:31 pm ---- It's an Eaton M45. Was originally fitted to a Mini Cooper S then was on a Renault Spider. Got a spare engine on a stand to trial fit it to and make the brackets up on.
Fits where the air-con pump used to be but I'll be moving the oil filter. Last edited by st3v3n on Fri Jun 08, 2012 12:25 pm; edited 1 time in total
#144: Re: GTi Track Car (Supercharger Conversion in Progress) Author: st3v3n, Location: Liverpool Drives: 206 GTiPosted: Sat Jun 25, 2011 4:57 pm ---- Started making the bracket to hold the SC to the engine.
It is going where the aircon pump used to live and due to it's length I'm getting rid of the oil filter housing and making a take-off plate to move the filter out the way.
Anyway, let the pics do the talking
More to follow...........
#145: Re: GTi Track Car (Supercharger Conversion in Progress) Author: st3v3n, Location: Liverpool Drives: 206 GTiPosted: Sat Jun 25, 2011 5:07 pm ---- Just to note, in those above pics, the M 8 studded bar is 10mm too short and is only a temp fit! It will be longer and have a nut on top too.
Bracket is now finished and cold zinc galvanised.
Next job is making the oil take-off plate.
#146: Re: GTi Track Car (Supercharger Conversion in Progress) Author: Seb, Location: Under your bedPosted: Sat Jun 25, 2011 5:10 pm ---- Strange it didn't look like the charger I had on my cooper S. The M45s start to top out at about 270ish on the coopers but I think for a gti 250 is a decent target. The same as the Z22 engine does. 145bhp-250bhp with the sole addition of an M62 charger (the next size up).
#147: Re: GTi Track Car (Supercharger Conversion in Progress) Author: st3v3n, Location: Liverpool Drives: 206 GTiPosted: Sat Jun 25, 2011 5:15 pm ---- 250bhp would be mega in my car as it is light and fast as it is. Can't really be arsed spending a fuckton of money on uprated internals to go over 300 as it would be cheaper to just buy an evo!
