Alright you lot quit havin' a go at me!!! It's my car so i'll do what i like! I was unsure about having the springs cut so i did some research prior to having it done. My dad, brother and my friend who lowered it are all mechanics so i got advise from them 1st and yeh your right, it is dangerous, but only if you cut them at the wrong end so they shoot through your bonnet, my friend who lowered it had lowered over 20 cars and has learnt from experience what's right and wrong. So instead of cutting alot off my standard springs i bought some sports springs and had a little bit cut off them, they were 60ml so took 10ml off so it's not that bad. I am not a complete blonde t**t! Thanks.
you go girl

#260: Re: Sarah's 206 :) Author: Mr_Cellexe, Location: HertfordshirePosted: Mon Nov 22, 2010 2:38 pm ---- lol. cut springs? back in the day
thing is with cut springs and standard length dampers it will only bottom out and knacker the rest of the suspension.
My honest advice, spend a few quid (front springs and dampers are about 150-200 and rears are 50-100) and do it properly Sarah ;)#
EDIT: You are right tho, if done correctly they can last. saying that tho the reasons behind spring cutting was due to lack of 'uprated' parts, which, in todays world isnt an issue)

#262: Re: Sarah's 206 :) Author: Ali_H, Location: Chichester, SussexPosted: Mon Nov 22, 2010 2:43 pm ---- Cutting springs is stupid, like it or not. Not to mention dangerous.
It's false economy anyway, as you'll most likely bugger your tracking and bushes every few hundred miles.
The reason people used to do it is because suspension kits were pricey but for the cost of a set of springs these day's it's idiocy.

like i said hehe.
it was only noted as 'dangerous' due to DIY freaks doing it wrong and compromising the integrity of the spring (cracking, snapping etc).

Jord you know your still the only one for me ha ha x
To everyone else- i appreciate the fact that your only warning me but there are nicer ways to say it than calling me an idiot, stupid or 'pretty but not clever' or whatever it is that you say. My springs had like one coil cut off and they are lowering springs, it's better to cut a little of those than alot off standard ones and i know a few people with the same thing, my brother did it to two of his cars and if you do it right then it's safe enough. So i don't mind you stating the facts but i didn't ask for your opinions, i just updated what's goin on with the car atm, that doesn't mean you can slate me for it!
However, if it makes you feel better then you can call me what you like

so again sorry if i offened you in any way wasnt intentional.
