yeah ill be fine quarmbo, work wont start on her properly till summer next year, i just want to see what parts will need ordering off the Classic Mg owners club, bless your concernd, lol, fancy babysitting then, lol

as to a bad car to drive what would u expect on a car thats older than 25 years, lol, ideas is to try and some small disks on front but got to find ones the right size. as to the roof, it isnt bad atall it was brand new custom made for the car and is electric Smile well off a sorts u have to pop the clips by the windscreen and it motors down but you have to get out to clip it into place and put the metal cover over it

I must say that of the two worst cars I've ever driven, a Midget was one of them! Brakes were terrible and the steering wheel felt really close to the door. Interior was tiny. A MK3 Escort cabriolet would shame the quality of roof sealing on the MG!

The other worst car was a MK1 Seat Ibiza...awful Fiat build quality and the worlds most sloppy steering.

Can't you think of something nice to say as this girl is taking on this project for sentimental reasons instead of picking holes in, and criticising, her project?

I dislike your 207CC but never felt the need to plaster it all over your thread.

You know something? I think it's a good project. I really like old cars (especially when combined with modern mechanical parts) but it's hard to overlook the good sides of technology and progress!
The 207CC isn't mine! I wouldn't buy one.

If 'this girl' is approaching the project with her eyes open she'll know what I'm talking about anyway.

I'm not a fan of them at all, but there's a guy round my parts who drives one and it's insane!

Props to you for doing it though Smile I will keep an eye on it. Something about old cars like this that sparks and interest (probably coming from my new found attraction to the old minis - though I'd never own/drive one!).

Don't argue the opinions of idiots.
They will bring you down to their level and win through experience.

That was simply my point. Yes Paul it's a good project. I was just rather surprised you didn't even mention anything about it and simply slated the car.

trust me i have open eyes, ive grown up with my dad taking motorbikes and old ford's like capris and Escorts aprt and back together, then when i left school at 16 i studied ND1 (national Diploma) in mechanics for 2 years and then on summer hollidays and a year after college i studied Bodypanel beating and spray, for a year. ive already rebuilt a 1995 Renault clio witch was a Cat D write off and then left in a scrappy for 5 years so u can imagine the damage Sad did try to rebuild a MK3 Fiesta but it was too far gone to save, and dave made me scrap it Sad

Don't u boys worry im not doing any work or heavy lifting, i can hadly see my toes so doubt i can lift stuff, lol, as i said work will properly start next summer, i just want to get the lights on and uncover her so i can see what parts need to be order abroad that will take time to arrive, so i dont have to wait in the summer for parts.

Who do u think does all the work on daves car lol, and with all the abuse he gives her shes still running Smile
You can tell dave isnt mechanically mindded as when he first did work on his car he was going to put an axle stand in his passager footwell to change a tyre, lol

its nice to know your all routin to see work commense Smile its not just me who wants to see it run again Smile as you can tell shes a highly loved car and none off the family wants to part with her but everyone wants to help in restoring her.

As soon as shes road leagal and ready ill be bringing her to a meet, but doubt that will be for another year or two yet, i don't like doing half a job and i rather get it done properly so i know the car will be sound for the next 5 years+
I have spoken to my grandmother about putting the MG B 1750 enging in it if i cant get this one going again as she's told be its been rebuilt in total 3 times, as u know old MG's are renound for this and after 30000 miles u have to rebuild the engine

thank you again for all your support, ill keep it updated on parts thatl be fitted and work that will be done. Really would like to fit some modern luxury's like Power Steering for one, lol

chuffed with myself, even with being due in 2 weeks i managed to get a battery hooked up, even thou i couldnt find the right size, and got half off the ligts working on the exterior and all off them on the dash, only one dip beam headlight out, and all brake lights, but i think thats something to do with a fuse missing Sad lol

its not realy the best time to be fiddling with it i suppose, ive learnt one important lesson about workin in this weather, were gloves when opening the metal door handels, its cold :l
