hey people!

right as most of you know i have a 1.4 sport 16v. not the worst not the best.

my question is i travel along a long road to work every day with few safe overtaking places for the car im in atm as it just doesnt seem to have enough push to make it (so im not stupid i dont even try lol)

now talking to a friend i was also thinking MPG wise id like a bit more. we both came up with the 206 1.4 HDi.

whats the difference performance wise (figures please, i no ones a diesel and ones a petrol before anyone comments!)

can you tune the 1.4 hdi more then the 1.4sport?

how much would i be looking at for the car and mods to get it up to good performance figures?

cheers lads n lass'

Dan

The HDi is easily remappable and I can imagine will probably feel quicker than the 1.4 petrol ultimately. I know the mpg will be better. It has ample torque so accelerating will be fine I should think. They're alright engines really.
Don't argue the opinions of idiots.

Have you looked at a 2.0 hdi that has a fair amount of power waiting to be unleashed.

According to parkers. Insurance on The 1.4 and 1.4 hdi are both group 5 and the 2.0 hdi is group 6. I would look at some quotes from each type of car.

i've been quite impressed with the 1.4HDi engine. it's fairly nippy! lol. 70hp and about 120ft-lb.

you can remap it to about 95hp and 150-160ftlb to make it even quicker and you'll still get 60MPG+! Smile

i had a 207 courtesy car the other week and it fair shifted! i though it was the 1.6hdi 90 but it was only the 1.4! Laughing

No! 1.4 Sport FTW! I just don't like the sound of diesels, so I couldn't see myself getting one Razz As my first car, the 206 1.4 Sport was the fastest car I could get insured on for a reasonable price.

that's just with a standard remap. but mind on, it's only got 70PS to start off with! lol.

you can fit a FMIC, straight through exhaust to free it up a little and get some more power and lower down torque!

small diesels aren't really that tunable as they dont have much to give from the start. unlike VAG dervs with silly power to start off with!
