Couldnt disagree with you more here.

They have got some poke when you need it, they are not that noisy at all well mine isnt. Clutch is fine not heavy at all and the fuel consumption is very good in town and out.

if you compare the clutch to the 1.4 petrol its heavier, horses for courses. on long runs their good if your course is around town not so good.definite diesel rattle at tickover.
why

You would expect that is a bigger engine and has way more torque but it really isnt heavy to be honest.

2.0hdi is a great car, 40k in 2 years and iv replaced the tyres, the brakes are still perfect Laughing now sitting on 65k and everything runs as good as when i got it. Gearbox is massivley better than the 1.1/1.4 box. Its really got a great pull 2-4k brilliant on motorways.

As long as you can live with a 4k max rev and no red line high reving petrol eating fun then i suppose there good.... Sad

2.0hdi sport + DAC 2005, aegean blue! Very Happy

Its ok. it will rev to just inside the 5000 rpm line but i wouldnt advise it as i thought mine was about to explode, plus it gets off the turbo about 4000rpm. fuel wise its not bad but if you thrash it its not what you will expect it goes down as a petrol does. i drive everywhare with the a/c on which hammers diesel. It could really do with an extra 20bhp really so either a remap or intercooler or both would really help as it is slightly sluggish. 40-90mphh though in 4th and 5th will put a smile on your face however even when its completley standard
No diesel clatter no lap time smasher
