the standard airbox will offer the most protection. check the intake pipe below the airbox to make sure there is not a rip in the fabric. as tis just foam inside that

is this directed at me? on mie the plastic was feck completely, hence why ive re fitted all now, the pipe ends up just behind the passenger head light, you would have to go through some serious deep water very slow to fill it i think!

no to sam. i still wouldn't trust it tbh.

ah cool sorry!!!! mines sound now, just follows the line of the normal one, just means no water can get in through the pipe!

If the standard airbox and intake pipe are good enough for my car then I think it's fine for a XS! The standard set up is a cold air feed.

I found the problem

The bottom of the airbox was smashed up somehow? How odd.

Ill get a new one and try and get a side by side test on the dyno in uni

Just did a timed 0-60 run with each filter.

Well 3 run with each, then averaged, the tanard box wa 0.2s quicker, not a maive amount but enough to leave it on.

hence why you get better throttle respone then, although if they are not the right type for the car they can make both power and torque worse

just leave the pipe open its only to let gasses escape from. it just runs to the intake so the engine can burn them as its less harmful to the enviroment. however this is said to loose a bit of power. make sure the engine is up to temp too to take heatsoak into consideration.

Yep engine will be at full operating temp

I have put some foam over both of them to let them breathe but to stop anything falling in, might try and get a dyno session booked in uni soon Smile
