The OBD2 fault code readers are only compliant with 2004 and later diesels although some people say they have got them to work OK on some earlier models.
I've got the 1.4HDi that has the OBD2 socket under the dash but it's supposed to be non compliant which is a bummer as I would also like to get a code reader.

What He Said

Went to the garage to do mine today, turned out it was just 4 old faults which i'd already sorted out, if nothing else it gave me peace of mind Very Happy

I bought a Memoscan U480 from eBay for about £20 - works a treat on my '53 plate.

Don't think you can do that on pugs,

Vectras do it, also know as paper clip test.

My astra does what's called pedal test, were you hold accelerator and break down while turning key to number two and will flash fault codes out Laughing

if you gotta obd2 port then would assume so but cannot tell for sure untill you try as pugs wiring changed for preplexed to multiplexed between 02 and 04.

Is that a petrol because they were OBD2 compliant from 1991 while the diesels were from 1994.
