Just come to use the car after being away for christmas and the thing was dead... Maybe related to a thread about my stereo but anyway..
Was going to charge the battery but no one had a charger so we just jumped it (shock horror!) Straight away airbag light fault, but seeing as this kind of thing usually happens I assumed it would clear when the car was restarted. Took it for a drive and whilst rolling along turned the ignition off then on again and sure enough that cleared the airbag fault. However 2 minutes later the Catalytic Convertor fault came on, followed promptly by a Anti-Pollution fault.. followed by a totally unrelated ASR/ESC fault! Then it all but died!
Pulled over, waited a second and started it again.. all fine. Drove along then the previous faults all started flashing up again, then it suddenly sounded like a plane, no a train, OK maybe a tractor! Power dies, to literally nothing, can't get past 3rd or it will stall from lack of power. Car is shaking at idle like a V8 or somthing! Sounds awful, pressume maybe the Cats failed or the manifold. Turn to crawl home and barely can get above 20 MPH. Roundabouts were real fun!
Dropped by the local garage who's next to my house, and he said it sounds like it's running on 3 or maybe even 2 cylinders. Got home, turned it off, waited a few seconds and started it again. Fine! Then the fault light started again but still appears to be running on all cylinders again. Going to my mates later and might take the car to see if the fault re-occurs.
Anyone had this? Could it be something that will clear with some use? I have a warranty which should cover most of this hopefully, but still it's gonna cost me!

mine ran like that when the coilpack was dodgy,
mine had been serviced and cheap plugs put in then the coilpack hadn't been bolted down properly
i put in some bosch super 4's and tightened the coilpack up and it was like new

I had that problem as well... Turned out to be blocked injectors... £460 later it worked fine...
The garage that did it mentioned that if you run it too long like that with a misfire it may lead to cat damage - could explain the cat/pollution light maybe? Just throwing ideas out there.

If it had been started for all that time, i would never have jumped started it. You've got a flat battery because of the cold, and you've suddenly started the engine from completly dead. I had the same problem after a week at -10. When i charged the battery and started it, i had all sorts of ligths flashing. They did clear after a 20 mile drive.

i hope that you jumped started it in the right way,because if anything goes wrong,you can cause a short circuit to the ECU,which can cause lots of problems.

Shut the BSI down correctly, then try booting it up again with a fully charged / decent battery fitted.
Jump starting a multiplexed 206 isnt a good idea, you can crash the BSI software & in worse cases fry the BSI unit.
Fingers crossed you havent done any damage.

Thanks MrBSI. I will give it a go tomorrow and also check voltage on the battery. This damn chime still comes on now and then when starting. It(battery)could be on it's way out.

I'll see about this tomorrow and see if it clears.
The battery is shot probably. I knew that jumping was a risky idea, even though I think that jumping a car shouldn't be risky and that it is stupid that the BSI is so rediculously delicate, but I had no charger.
It's going to a garage on monday anyway unless I clear the fault doing this BSI reset.. I reckon it's ECU related cause it starts ok then goes funny after a while.. Or maybe it's just knackered!

OK, well I thought about getting a new battery today and doiing the BSI reset (obviously!).. But then decided to just buy a charger. The battery was reading 12.02v, after a good charge it's now reading 13.56v. Will check it tomorrow see if it's held it ok.
Anyway, I disconnected the battery to charge it so reset the BSI, no bong on sde lights, but then it only ever did that once.. Started and all faults immediately. Decided to drive up the road and get some Redex, see if that helped as it has solved wonders for me before! Anyway, 4 miles to the Shell garage and no problems apart from the fault alerts.. left Shell and drove half mile to Tesco, and it started misfiring and judering/sounding genereally awful. Redex'd the tank, and proceeded to drive around. Straight away missing again. Pulled over and left it off for 1 minute, then tried again.. Drove for an hour around the country and a blast down the A1 with no more issues!..
Got home, ignition off and on again and the faults still reading.. Not sure if it will clear the faults anyway without being read. Going to try it again tomorrow before it goes to the garage. But not sure what to do if it stays ok. The warranty has a £50 excess, but if it just need a computer reset maybe that would be cheaper..
Also strangely the radio is now switching on and off again with the ignition!!?!?

Another update.
Drove it again today and the Antipollution fault came up but thats it. No Cat fault and no misfiring. Not sure what to do now, think I'll leave it a whil,e longer before taking it to the garage, but concerned that it might be causing some damage..
Also the fricking stereo was being stupid again. Refused to turn on at all then after about 10 minutes turned on on it's own randomly and wouldn't turn off again with the ignition.. It's driving me nuts!

I sense a trip to a Peugeot main dealer
Get the BSI scanned as there's gonna be plenty of fault code's in the memory
I would also ask for the BSI software to be updated while it's hooked up.

Maybe will book it into peugeot now there is no rush, they were to busy to do it immediately but now it's working that's ok. Surely going to be costly though!

Cost, who knows until its scanned with Peugeot planet.
Hope you have breakdown cover in case the BSI spits its dummy out
