wondered if it would fit? also whats the gearing if any one knows on the 180's i want more top end from my gti

IIRC the 180's have longer gearing but not by much, unless your gearbox is knackered i would bother fitting one
More than likely the sensors are different, but seeding your box is also hydraulic there should be no real problem in fitting

The top end would be over 120mph or something? Do you really need this or are you planning on taking your pug on track?!

Even then i wouldnt bother, just change the final drive ratios to see a difference (top end or acceleration)

it would fit but the 180 is cable operaterd gear linkage so you would need that too

would it be better just to change the final drive then?
only reason is i do alot of long journeys and city

A GTi 180 gearbox is not a step in the right direction. A 206 GTi 138 gearbox has perfect ratios for 130mph at 6500 rpm.
Shorter gearing is what you need.

yeah but thats the limiter !! just to get 130 @6500rpm i want it to do 120@4500rmp so its chilled not screaming

That will blunt your acceleration though. Will the car have enough power at 4500 rpm to do 120mph? Do you need to cruise at 120mph?
