Some of you may remember the problem i had with my 206 1.1 i was getting around 21MPG! Yes only 21... So i had the car fully serviced and i still have a problem i know fuel prices have rose but i expect to be getting more mpg than this, so now when i'm driving i can hear a grinding sound and the other day i was going down a hill and i took my foot off the accelorator and my car was slowing down so to me this tells me either my handbrake cable has water in it and frozen so my handbreak is sticking on OR my rear drums are sticking on i hear the sound when breaking mainly it's nothing to do with the front discs as i've had these replaced in the last 6 months.
Any idea's?

Probably rear drums seized, happens quite frequent apparently!
Even with a full service, maybe ou got junk in your injectors etc, dirt in your fuel line, dirt at the bottom of your fuel tank! or not even using proper fuel!
I find that I get more MPG using BP fuel rather then the supermarkets!

I have exactly the same problem but I have replaced my drums and I am still getting 25mpg

agree with this totally, always get more using shell or somebody as appose to supermarkets

using shell fuel save i can get more out of a tank then using sainsburys

I've tried alsorts mate my car is running like a bag of s**t atm
How can i stop my rear drums from doing this, i diddn't drive my car for around 3-4 weeks as i was in an accident where i damaged my knee we had alot of snow and ice and when i tried to move my car for the first time it wouldn't move as either the handbreak cable was stuck on or the rear drums were stuck on i had to go forward then reverse in a motion to free it, ever since i'm getting this awful grinding sound and approximatley 21mpg =(
( Note the 21mpg was ongoing way before the car wasn't moved for weeks it's just the grinding sound has appeared now.)

I fitted a new handbrake cable and replaced my drums and shoes, Cost for parts about £60
and I do use shell or BP and have never noticed a difference only in the cost

Also as it is a diesel I reccomend you use a Engine Flush, this will clear your injectors, fuel line and so on,

Thats a load of bollox, because supermarket fuel is bought from the oil giants.
EG: Morrisons use BP fuel.

Running premium fuel is better than using things like red-ex

I agree but on my budget I cant afford it as £40 is only filling my tank up just over half atm

Lee i remember you posting on my topic last time you were a great help it's just still not sorted i just called into the garrage then to book an appointment for tonight to get the handbreak cable checked and the rear drums checked.
