hi i own a 206 1.9d there's a grinding noise coming from the passenger side and the steering slightly shakes iv had the tracking done and the steering still shakes a litlle but the noise has still not gone and has got even worse now i thought it was the pads grinding so i jacked it up took of the passenger side wheel had a look and the brake pads seem to be fine
i spinned around the wheel disc and i could hear a grinding noise like its the driveshaft or something so i stuck the wheel back on and shaked it and the wheel was shaking even the nuts were tighed on so cud any one out there shed some light on this what it could be thanks

you need to check where the play is, it will either be the track rod end(side of the hub) drumsticks in the rack , bottom ball joint(underneath the hub) or the wheel bearing. get someone else to shake the wheel and try and see/feel where the play is coming from.

Sounds for sure like the wheel bearing failed, new one is about £30 plus labour (approx 2 hours)

hi took it to a mechanic today and he told me it was the wheel bearing does any body know how to change the whee bearing

Yeah, take it to a garage to be done, I think (could be wrong) they need to be pressed on.

onHi, yeh the wheel bearing is a press fit in the hub carrier..you'll need a garage to do it ...it's not dificult but you do need a press and some basic Knowledge, good luck
