Hi All,

Bought a 2002 Pug 206 and ECU had to be replaced iwth a brand new one due to water (from detailers,, those idiots).

Now with the new ECU, I'm finding that the Auto takes a while to change into 2ng gear, and also down shifts at annoying times.

From what I know, the ECU is meant to learn how you drive the car right? And then changes the way it shifts gears accordingly. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

If this is the case, how long should it for the ECU to grow accustomed to the way you drive? Been driving everyday for a week with no change to how it shifts.

PS: New ECU was fitted and programmed by a French Car specialist mechanic (they're not the official Peugeot mechanic, but they specialist only in Pugs, Citroens and Renaults).

Thanks,

2002 Peugeot 206 XT 1.6L in Silver

I think (99% sure) that the auto-adaptive mode the transmission in is forgotten when the ignition is off. Ie it doesn't 'learn' over the course of a week; it only alters the mode its in based on the previous few miles of driving. Probably feels different due to different versions of the software in the transmission ECU, or just your perception is off. Also, the old ECU might have had a long-standing fault which put it into a downgraded mode.
