Strange one, passenger rear light doesn't work, but passenger brake light works. Its on the same bulb, like a dual fillament i think its called, so why would one part of it work and the other doesnt. I have tried changing the bulb and still same problem, could it be fuse? does the tail rear light have a separate fuse to the brake light? Cheers. Stew

Both tail lights have the same fuse, so if one works it's not the fuse. I take it you put a new dual filament bulb in. Otherwise could be the light unit itself.

Just had the same thing happen to me, In the end i took the lamp out, cleaned it up as it had a layer of corrosion on the aluminium, cleaned the contacts on the bottom and on the lamp holder and it works fine.

The dual filament bulb has two separate feeds (tail and brake) and share a common earth. If you have changed the bulb and the tail light still doesn't work then it is possibly a connection. I know that the brake lights are on separate fuses, but not sure about the tail lights. Someone on here will know, and be able to tell you the fuse number.

Used emry tape and electrical contact cleaner. Bit ott really, bit of wet and dry and solvent based cleaner (brake cleaner etc) would work the same. Also make sure you bend the connection out a bit in the LAMP holder as mine were barely making contact.

So you are telling this guy to change the glass part and not the bit that emits the light.

If you can get into the glass part to the part that emits the light aka the filament, then be my guest. Personally I would just replace the glass bulb that comes fitted with the light emitting wire which is secured onto a metal cap and costs about 50p. Much cheaper than having to be a budding Thomas Edison.

Stewie, whether it's a bulb or a lamp, you still need to find the fault. Sometimes the metal connector in the holder can become bent so it doesn't make a connection with the solder on the end of the cap. You could carefully bend this back up slightly, but make sure you turn your lights off first. If still no joy, using a multimeter, check that there is power going to the connector but be careful not to short anything with the multimeter probe.
