Hi Guys,
I bought a set of 17inch 206 GTi 5 Spoke Alloys a couple of years ago for my 206 XSi, i am having a problem with kerbing though because the edge of the alloy sticks out past the edge of the tyres.
I am about to get the alloys refurbished good as new but would like to buy a set of tyres that will help solve the problem of kerbing.
Does anyone know the size of tyres i should get?

Might sound daft but....just stop kerbing them...learn to park lol

Well i knew that would be coming but unfortunately i don't have a witty comeback. That is the main aim but as i have to parallel park outside my house every day its not always easy...

So you do it every day and havnt mastered it yet 
I seem to remember the standard Pirelli P 7000's having a bit of a lip or Toyo T-1R's.

Aim the wing miror down so tht u can see how close the alloy is to the curb. Thts what i do and so far i have never curbed me alloys

i tried to get up a hill when it had snowed this year, couldnt and ended up sliding all the way back down backwards against the kerb.. 
what a fail. was nothing i could do

I've got the P7000's on at the moment but there's no lip on them

rim protectors, wider tyres? will probs need spacers to stop them catching on full lock

there's no way of protecting a wheel that is lower than the kurb. get smaller wheels with fatter tyres..

Im sure the Toyo's have a protective lip. Didn't Antix have those tyres?

If i wanted smaller wheels with fatter tyres i would have stuck with the original alloys which (i think) were 16s unfortunatly with the 17s the profile of the tyre is less but the overall wheel size is the same as the standard ones on the 206.
The only reason i'm asking here is to get advice instead of going to a garage and asking them, in the end they only want to make money and the chances are they would not have the tyres i needed without pre-ordering or they wouldn't know which ones would fit best... a wider audience on the internet with possibly people who have the same problem (although with maybe better parking skills) is sometimes a better option... maybe i chose the wrong website in which case nevermind

To be fair mate your question has been answered, you have had tyres recommended and you have been told "there's no way of protecting a wheel that is lower than the kurb".

the best advice you could get you just got on here from meady, lowering your mirror so you can see how close you are to the kurb.
tackle the problem directly by improving your parking skills instead of trying to find the easy way out.
i dont get what the problem is
