Nope.
Crankshaft position sensor works by detecting a magnet positioned on the flywheel and has nothing to do with gearbox. The ECU then works out revs from this, as well as which cylinder to spark next, ignition timing etc. |
on a 206 GTI
the gearbox have a sensor called a REV sensor (technicaly its a crankshaft sensor but on the gearbox) , also any diagnostics systems will show as a REV sensor.

just like to point out its not the same as a 1.1 - 1.6 BLack sensor that goes on the gear box

Please also consider that any such sensor must be before even the clutch
otherwise it would give zero reading when the clutch pedal was pressed.
Now where its mounted on a 138/180 I don't know.
