Hey people, Just wondered if anybody knew where the rev sensor was located on a 1.4 lx 1999? Cheers. Joni

i think its on the gearbox somewhere

correct its on gear box its yellowy looking prbabbly black from road crap tho.

is this usually the issue for the rev counter on the speedo not working then ?. mines not working, but the dealer is just gonna change the speedo.

9 out of 10 is the speedo problem, could be the needle is stuck somehow

Rev sensor? You mean crank sensor? Or if the speedo has stopped working you might want to look at the speed sensor. Both are fitted to the gearbox.

Saxo electric PAS pump, Vibra Technics engine mounts. Samco coolant hoses, TTV steel flywheel, 4.76 final drive ratio, 307 CC 180 ratios. 2019 BMW 530i. 2017 Mercedes C300 convertible.

Ed is right. Speedo (mph) is the sensor on the gearbox, revs (rpm) takes it off the crankshaft position sensor. If there is no rev-counter action, its unlikely the crank sensor is gone or else the engine would not run very well if at all. WD40 will definately not help any of the two sensors.

rev sensor IS on the GEAR BOX but ye basicaly its a speedo sensor

Nope.
Crankshaft position sensor works by detecting a magnet positioned on the flywheel and has nothing to do with gearbox. The ECU then works out revs from this, as well as which cylinder to spark next, ignition timing etc.

.......so, at the end of the day, what is the main culprit when the rev counter doesnt work then ?
