I'm going to attempt to service my car. It's the first time I have ever serviced a car.

The car had a full service last year, when I bought it.

What will I need to replace this time round?

Found this list and also a guide on here, which I'll follow. I just need to know what I need to buy.

Oil:
Oil Filter:
Pollen Filter:
Spark Plugs: Bosch super 4 at 0.9
Coolant flush and coolant:
Fuel Filter:
Power steering fluid:
Gearbox oil: 75-80
Brake fluid:

Thanks

Iirc the fuel filter is inside the fuel tank. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

Depends what the mileage is with the brake fluid, power steering and gearbox oil. They might just need topping up. You could buy some flushing oil and a cheap second oil filter so that you can give the engine a good clean out.
Just I little tip I found, I used a flexible extension to take the spark plugs out. I couldn't get a standard extension bar in, and use a spark plug socket that will grip the plug (or a piece of 8mm tubing) as they are pretty deep and you don't want to cross thread them putting them back in.

I have an inline filter that comes off the sender unit (between fuel feed and fuel return pipes)

Oil: Yes Change it 10W40 oil, any brand really
Oil Filter: Yes change, get one from peugeot no more then £10
Pollen Filter: Easy enough to change, may aswell
Spark Plugs: Bosch super 4 at 0.9 Shouldnt need to change, only 20K miles
Coolant flush and coolant: Shouldnt need to change only 5 years or 100k
Fuel Filter: May aswell change, its underneath drivers side, tucked up a little bit, follow the fuel lines!
Power steering fluid: Shouldnt need to change, check if top up is required
Gearbox oil: 75-80 Shouldnt need to change, check if top up is required
Brake fluid: Shouldnt need to change, check if top up is required

You forgot AIR FILTER but change it, may aswell go same brand as the fuel filter, might get a bit of discount!

for the both and mess of doing it yourself and cost of oil nowdays i'd just take it somewhere for them to do it - i paid £20 because i wanted to use a certain oil, however for them to use their own it would have only been £30

The car is 5 years old.

If the gearbox old has never been done, it should be changed

Use Total Quartz oil

Might as well change the brake fluid if he is doing a full service

I'd change the plugs for how much they cost

Brake fluid should be changed every 2 years Wink

Think of all that damage the water absorbed in the brake fluid will be doing to those sensative hydraulic components.

Thanks, very helpful.

I need to check what was done last year when I got the garage to do a full service.

The filter is no longer standard, its an open cone filter (yes, I know), so I need to find out how to clean that.

The talk about the spark plugs was kind of making me think the same! Knowing me I would snap something.

Thanks, no I'm not doing a full service - I was planning on paying the garage to do a full service every 2 years, and I'd do the small services between.

Is it worth it?
