Ok guys, basically my lcd screen stopped working when the ribbon became detatched from the circuit board,

in this pic the ribbon is visable, as is the white rectangle where it connects to the board. At the moment, ive stuck the ribbon down with a small bit of tape; suffice to say it hasnt brought the screen back to life.

however, when i push down on the ribbon the screen comes alive again ( see video)

Seemingly the selotape isnt providing enough pressure to the circuit board; this leads me to believe that if i used glue or solder to hold the ribbon to the circuit board instead of selotape (as it is at the moment,) it would be a perminant solution to this issue that had drove me almost crazy?

Bit out of my depth here in not sure what to do next, any advice would be much appreciated.

I would recommend replacing the whole cluster but I know it always feels better to fix it yourself.
I would try and get a thick piece of steel wrapped in insulation tape which is then stuck over the ribbon with superglue, just make sure you use enough pressure to stick it as flat to the board as possible without breaking the board or ribbon- it makes sense in my head anyway! Lol

You never really learn to swear until you learn to drive

There's normally a small plastic clip that holds the ribbon on the connector and allowing pressure. You can solder the ribbon directly to the board. But try using bluetac first, put the bluetac on and press down firmly on it and it normally keeps the pressure and it works

Cheers man, il get the Blu tac out tonight and give it a go, if not I'll try and see if maplins have the clip, I may try soldering but I assume I would have to be extra careful to not solder across the 15 or so wires in the ribbon? That may not make sense but il get another pic later to explain a little more

If I was to solder would I need to line up all of these connector bits together and not solder across any? If so seems like a job for someone who knows what there doing lol,

Iffy help if I included the pic
