I have an auto dimming mirror from a 307 (minus the connector; just have the wiring) that I'm trying to put in my pre-plexed 206.

Been following the how-to on here:
Auto Mirror How-to

got the old mirror off, switched the holders around and fed the wire through the recess, now all I have to do is connect the mirror's white wire to the blue wire of the interior light and the mirror's black wire to the green/yellow wire of the interior light and I should be good to go.

I can see the hole to feed the mirror's wires into the roof lining but once I take the light surround off I can't see the mirror's wires to get them to the interior light wires.

There's some black plastic in the way which seems it doesn't want to budge and moving the roof lining feels as if it's going to rip. Here are some pics if it helps:

How can I move this black plastic thing and get the mirror wires through?

I've pullled the roof lining down, slowly, on two cars and done it that way. Worked fine both times for me.

Okay, going to give this another try later in the week. Cheers. Is the roof lining glued / bonded on?

the roof lining will take some gentle effort to pull down enough to get the wires through. Its alot easier if you remove both the sun visors and clips by undoing the screws aswell.

I undid the sun visor clips and now have access to the wires Very Happy

When it comes to connecting the wires up, I had some blue scotchloks handy, so I thought I'd use these.

I've connected the wires up correctly (mirror white to interior light blue and mirror black to interior light green & yellow) but the auto mirror wasn't coming on (I attempted to switch it on and off using the button) when I switch the ignition on Confused

After further investigation the scotchloks haven't cut far enough through the wire; the metal teeth seem too wide and aren't getting through to the copper and making a connection.

What size scotchloks do I need or what size did anyone else use when they did this mod?

First time I've used these. Looking at some now on eBay; from what I understand by reading this seller's description...

cgi.ebay.co.uk/100-BLU...3573wt_907

...the blue type of scotchlok is right for the connection I'm trying to make?

I used RED ones to get the wiring right then soldered the wires together and used insulation tape to cover the solder and threw the scotchloks as already said they are really a bodge job!

No. I'll correct myself...it's wired into the interior light and working off that connection. Am I right in assuming I have to feed a connection to the brown or pink wires in the reverse lights then? Do I have to remove the roof lining and feed a new wire to get to a connection that far back in the car?

yeah you need to run a wire from the live wire off the tail light cluster when reverse is selected. You can do this easily without removing the headlining.

All the reverse light feed does is undim the mirror when you select reverse Wink
