My air con ran out end of last summer, and i had no money to have it re-gased, but i've been given the chance to have it re-gased at work for free. But when i press the air con button nothing happens.

Is this because the compressor is broken, or is it a safety feature that when i re-gas the system it will work again?

Well the fuse hasn't gone, is there any way of checking the compressor? or is it a case of i'm not going to know until it's re-gased?

Edit: When they re-gas it get them to fix the leak too. Most companies just put refrigerant back in without fixing the leak for it to come out again.

just for clarification though , if indeed there is no gas in the aircon , would the fan still kick in once activated anyway ?

No if you have no gas in the system the air con fan will not kick in, I had the same problem which I thought I was looking at a big bill for but no had the air con re-gassed and it works fine.

So to clear things up, if there is no gas in the system the air con will not activate.
