I was coming home from work the other night and when i went to put it into 5th it just wouldnt go asif it was blocked. i let it run for about 30 yards in neutral then it went in fine. every now and again this problem occurs but only with 5th gear. Once it is in 5th gear it drives like normal it is just getting it into gear thats the problem.
Any help is appreciated thanks

happens to me ocassionally, when it does, rev up to match the revs and put it back into 4th, let it run for a sec and then in to fifth. with mine it happens if i "hang around" in neutral before putting it into fifth, if i go straight from 4th to 5th fast its fine.

It's worth changing the gearbox oil too if it hasn't been done for a while.
This definitely helps with smoother changes.

Get the oil from Peugeot / Citroen main dealer, its cheap enough.
Putting the wrong / fancy oils in these old PSA gearboxes ends up making things worse
