Is this a manual or a auto? If it is a auto, what's the changes like under normal driving and sporty driving? Do you know what kind of gearbox they put in? If it's a manual... Nice car, I have a 520d sitting outside |
It's the auto.
In normal mode it shifts up at 4k rpm when giving it some.
Shifts are quick and very smooth.
4.5k rpm when in sport mode and it usually sits one gear lower for normal driving. Shifts slightly quicker in DS. |
Cheers Appreciate that.. Need to take one for a test drive though.

Alternator belt broke again
Tensioner was replaced when it was 'fixed' last week.
Will see what the garage has to say later this week.

I do have a soft spot for this shape (E60?). I don't know much about them but I like what I'm going to guess are the M-Sport wheels, not the ones you posted a picture of, these ones have a flat face, lots of spokes!

So I heard back from the garage....
Story so far:
Back in March a new alternator was fitted as the old one failed. New alternator was bought from BMW parts dept.
Fitted by a garage.
What the garage is now telling me is that the wrong alternator was fitted!
The one on the car has a clutch mechanism in it so it only spins intermittently. Causing the auxiliary belt to wear out!
So now I've got to source a new alternator. The garage that fitted the new belt & tensioner are going to fit it FOC.

I've already spent £250 last week, and another £90 on an alternator.
Hopefully can claim some back from BMW who supplied the wrong one first of all.

I would expect you'd be able to claim it back as it's their f*** up that's caused all the issues.
