Wasn't going to put one of these threads up at first but thought it would be a good idea to have a record of everythings that done.

Couple of weeks ago I got my hands on my brothers saxo. As it was going to fail the MOT pretty badly it wasn't worth keeping on the road. He was going to break it but on the same morning as he was going to start I said it would be nice to have as a track car project and by that afternoon it was mine Smile

It's a bit of a shed to say the least, the previous owner (my brother only had for a month) didn't care much about it.

Several bits were missing / broken so it really needed to tlc to make it good again. I've spent nearly all the time since then painting, which is really boring as I can't wait to get started on the mechanical side of things.

It's a 1998 VTS which is getting taken off the road. At some point in the past it has been resprayed with rattle cans (lol..) but it hasn't actually come out that bad and looks a nice matt black from a distance.

It actually came with broken angels and a crap grill with no air feed but no brother fixed that a week before I fixed it with some morettes.

It's going to be quite a budget build so nothing major will be bought. It already has a full roll cage, spax suspension, bucket seats, harnesses, snap off wheel etc..

Started off by just stripping the interior a bit ready to paint the cage and sub frames.

Cleaned the boot pins as they must have masked them badly with the respray. Just a before and after.

Found a nice little bit of rust under the sound deadening at the back. Same on both sides Sad

Mate just sorting out the rust and the cage has had an undercoat on it.

Cage has been done in flourescent green just needs finishing off but it's started raining heavily.

Think I got lucky as well yesterday as a man from british gas came to fix the boiler and he had a vts he was about to scrap. So I went to his house and got this lot for £20 Very Happy

Needed the fuel pump as the floater arm on the last one was wrecked.

So far off the top of my head the future plans are:

Paint the cage and sub frames in flourescent green
Paint the interior floor in black
Raise the rear about 10 - 20mm
Get 205 speedlines and reburb them in flourescent green
Give it a good service
Rivet the sunroof up in aluminium
Fit perspex windows
Relocate battery to the boot
Uprate front brakes unsure of what yet

And more, just needs a decent tidy up most of all.

Hopefully it should be done by the end of the year looking forward to the fun to be had in it Smile

What are they? I know absolutely nothing about saxos Laughing depends how much you are looking for but I'm only really buying essential stuff atm and the current lights seem to be working fine.

Been working non stop on it for the last week but it's not obvious what's been done looking back.

Cage + sub frames are now green (yay)

Carbon wrapped the spoiler

Took the morettes out and fixed them up a little

Also done all the prep work for relocating the battery including making the mounts for the tray so when the painting is finished that should be sorted. Took lots (and I mean lots) of sound deadening out surprisingly weighs a lot put together.

Most of the rust has been sorted and the bonnet pins which decided to fall off have been welded back in place.

The fan was only single, so I bought another one and painted them. Going to wire them up to a switch instead of the normal loom, I don't think it even use to turn on..

Fitted the coilpack cover and painted the rocker cover with hammerite. Looks so bad but oh well better than peeling faded blue paint.

Decided the whole engine needed doing as well.

Steel sheet arrived, yAy

Sunroof out.

Got it done by this evening, sorry for the paint, not my best attempt.

Also bought a set of 205 gti wheel off ebay only to find out this..

Don't know where I stand as I picked them up but didn't notice it at the time. I have contacted the seller but unsure to what she will say.

Contacted the seller and got a replacement. Although now I have 3 smrs and one speedline but it should still be ok.

Going off to the powdercoaters on wednesday Smile

Also fitted the towstrap I got a few days ago, sorted the fan wiring out and stripped off the paint from the bonnet pins that had been painted over.
