After doing the wishbones and drop links on the front of the car thinking I'd solve my `knocking' problem, I'm still left with a knock which comes from the rear of the car. I've jacked the rear of the car up and tried shifting the wheels but there's no movement - so would I be right in thinking it's the axle mounting bushes that's causing the knocking sound ... ?

And, if it is the bushes, is there a tool for removing them fairly easily ... ? I've just been trawling the Net but found nothing ... !

One more thing - was wondering whether the noise might be coming from the rear shocks on the mountings - just wondered if anyone's come across that before ... ?

Thanks Very Happy

Have you checked its not the boot latch rattling? Would take a few seconds to check and would rule it out if no movement.

It could be the bearings on the rear axle, but there would be play in one of the arms if it was, have you checked the rear arms for movement?

it's a d*** to remove the axle bush.

the easiest way was drill out the middle metal bits, blow touch the remaining rubber bits away and then chisel away the outer metal bits.

This maybe the way I'll have to go. One of the knocking sounds was put down to the exhaust not lined up right, and catching the bodywork.

I'm replacing the shocks all round and changing the top mounts at the same time,so the only thing i would of not touch is the rear axle.So if there is any knocking after all that,i may have to bite the bullet.
