I've just received my smoked 3rd brake light, I also put one on my other gti before, however came to take the clear 3rd brake light off and instead of the little plastic connector for the electrics this one has been soldered on, here's the pic

Can anyone tell me what I have to do to connect my new one up, here's the connector hole, you can see it's got 2 little metal pins in it

well your definitely going to need a solder iron to get that off the car in the first place! and because your car hasnt got the plastic connector for plug and play you may have to solder in the new one aswell!

I've got a solder gun somewhere I think, why is nothing ever easy, I thought it would just be a straight swap over like it was on my gti!!!

the light someone put on it was probably a cheap nasty version hence why they had to solder it on!

Get someone that's breaking a 206 or a scrapyard and wire the connector back in.

ooh the joy of second hand cars! finding whats been bodged behind the scene Wink

if it was me I would unsolder that, get a plug from a scrappy / pug and connect it up OEM style, then plug it into the light

depending on the year of 206 either could be the earth, test it: light bulb on a wire, and connected to the chassis of the car, the positive one will make the bulb light up when the pedals pressed, the ground wire wont.

be sure to unplug the battery before wiring it up though, and when unwiring it.

Please Dont take any of my posts as written fact. They are simply my opinion and although to the best of my knowledge true, the information within them may well be incorrect.
