Hi guys, for the last 7 years i have owned jap cars. but due to the change off jobs budget etc.
i decided to buy a eco car. a peugeot 206 2.0Hdi 2000 reg.
on driving her back home from purchase it all started with loud metal clatting noises. sprayed the crank pulley with some wd40 and shut up. so bought a new one and fitted that. so the cranks now solved! (i think) and then put belt back on started her up and now there's loud flapping, vibrating noises only at idle under 1k. the belt flaps up and down on idle but the slightest bit off throttle and goes tight.
i changed the belt for a new one. made a bit off difference but it still there.
the tensioner pulley (one with the nut) does seem to vibrate on idle.
So whats the conclusion? is there a way off tightening the tensioner up or an old trick? or do i have to buy a new one? just seems strange that everythings breaking on this car!
sounds like you havent installed the tensionor correctly or you have a bad bearing on pully, givving it play but no play when load is put on to it. go and have a look when the engine is cool. / cold
