I went to the shopping centre this morning ... no problem. When I came back to my car it would not start. All lights were working, radio, panel gauges etc. Except the autodiagnostics light remained on orange. My car engine was completely dead. I had to leave it in the car park and arrange for it to be picked up in the morning. What is wrong with it ?? It clearly has plenty of power so its not the battery ? I have no partner or men in my family that can answer this question for me. A few weeks ago some of that ' cat hair ' came out of my exhaust which scared the living daylights outta me. I believe its the fibreglass thread from the cat-converter. Would this have anything to do with it ? The motor is not even turning over which makes me think it may be the starter motor or perhaps just a loose wire ? THe car started perfectly well when I left home and havent had any problems with it at all. She is in very good condition - and thats from the mechanic that recently serviced my T Reg car. Any answers please or a damsel in distress ????

Auto diagnostic light will stay on until the engine is running, thats normal.
Starter motor
Loose or broken main earth strap
Possibly the double relay
Battery

As above, get a garage to have a look at it if you don't know anyone with any car knowledge
