Hey, wondering if anyone can help on this matter.
I want to paint my front peugeot badge black to match the bumper. Do i need to sand it down and prime etc before hand or can i just paint over the top of it.
Also, which paint? Spray on or brush?

choose a fine grit sand paper. sand it down. few layers of primer and leave the primer to dry... sand it down again and then apply colour. allow this to dry and then sand down if required. Then apply lacquer. Just remember to spray from a distance and apply in light coats slowly building them up. If it runs youve done it too thick. good luck

You dont need to sand it down between coats of primer when your using plastic primer.

I did mine today and didnt use a primer or any sandpaper at all, just sprayed it straight away with gloss paint from halfords and came out perfect

If you didnt sand it it'll peel off soon!!

i never sanded mine and it was fine bar a few stone chips, but i do live in the middle of the countryside

i did a hell of a lot of coats so i dont think it should peel off, even if it does it wont be hard to spray again

What's the point in doing a half arsed job to save yourself a tiny bit of work. The time you spent doing loads of coats could have been spent doing the job properly. Bloody pure laziness. To the OP do the job right first time you won't have to worry about it in the future. There is a reason the sanding and priming process is there.
