My mate has a 2007 206 Look which when the steering wheel is turned quickly or when braking quickly the handbrake light appears on the dashboard and a beep comes from the dashboard.
When he bought the car, the trade dealer said it was a feature on the car, to warn the driver when the car was being driven erratically. I've never heard of this feature on a 206 and personally would find it more annoying than helpful. Is this a feature than can be turned off or is it a fault?

Its a FAULT
Is it just the (!) light that shows
OR
Does the STOP warning light come on as well at same time?
(!) & STOP = low brake fluid
(!) on its own mean handbrake switch could be faulty.
Any messages on the MFD when this happens?

No messages come on the MFD. AFAIK it's just the (!) light that comes on.

Check under the handbrake lever:
Could be a faulty switch ( swop it with the glove box one )
Could also be a defective wire catching near the switch.
Also are the rear brakes adjusted correctly & also the handbrake cables?
Any slackness could have the handbrake lever moving just enough to trigger the switch to activate the light, adjust rear shoes 1st before even thinking about touching the cables.

Apologies, just been informed that the STOP light does come on too, so it's a low brake fluid level?
