Hello everyone,

The spanner next to my 206's mileage has come up, and stayed there since last week. I'm reluctantly going to be selling my car in the next month or so. I wonder if you have any opinions on whether I should have it serviced or not?

From a buyers point of view do you think it will make a difference?

Also, if the Peugeot dealer finds items on the car that they advise should be replaced (I assume they will)...will they still stamp the book if I don't have the work carried out?

Many thanks,

Chalky

Cheers Chalky

Totally agree, if I was looking to buy a car and it was a choice of 2, with one that had been serviced and one that needed it to be done. I would go for the one that has been serviced all the time.

It will show to the new owner that you have looked after the car. Plus as been said no need to go to main dealer for it, a your local garage will do the job for you and will be cheaper. They will all so stamp the book as well.

Thanks for the quick responses. Will local garages know how to remove the spanner symbol from the odometer reading as well?

I dont agree..... the idea that the main dealer can provide a better quality of service has long gone. There are OEM compatible parts available that will conform to manufacturer warranty and there are main dealer trained technicians out there that perform as well or better than those main dealers.... (GTi180boy) sorry did that slip out..... I would be happy to buy a car with a non-main dealer stamp if I thought the owner had recognised the service intervals and acted upon them....... lecture over Very Happy

I hate main dealers. Always fed a load of bulls**t about the work they've done...last week we had the wifes 207CC in...job done under warranty - the timing chain sprocket and tensioner. 2 days later ECU light came on. It went back, they 'fixed' it. 10 minutes drive later ECU light back on. They fixed it in the end by aligning the camshaft sensor. Since when have things needed aligning? Sensors can only be fitted one way. In other words they did something wrong.
Chances are I know more about the cars than they do so I can spot a bullshitter a mile off. Independent garages are much better than main dealers.
