anybody modded there 1.6 engine, what kind of power/speed you getting. 0-60's etc...

first of all, would there be any point in putting money into a 1.6 engine, is the engine reliable and can handle modifications?

im not sure on if there are different 1.6 engine models on 206 but if there is mine is the 16v 110bhp one.

I was thinking eventually, manifold, full S/S sports cat exhaust and maybe cammed, what other mods would be a good thing to look into? thanks in advance for your expertise Cool

There is the xs 8v which is 90 and xsi 16v which is 110. Basically vtr and vts engines just a bit different a little slower.

The vts engine is very tuneable, just depends how big your budget is and how far you want to go just look at other saxos and 106s. With all the mods you have listed I would have thought 150 bhp would have been a reasonable target.

This is a very tuneable engine..... I would imagine with the right mods it may produce close to 175-200HP. I would avoid the cams at first and start saving up before you buy stuff you dont need. Exhaust and induction mods need to be planned together and the head and bottom end will need work.
What HP are you realistically after here

thanks that helps, I wanna be realistic on figures and don't wanna do major work, I just want it to be good, an I dont wanna mess the car up at all, such as alot of the cammed cars i see have unstable idle, bouncing the RPM etc.

I didn't know the engine was the same/similar model to saxo vts? why has the vts got 120bhp?

I think a realistic figure would be around 160, but im not majorly fussed about how many ponies it has or for it reaching top end 150mph, more so 0-60 times and low end acceleration (for legal reasons Razz ha ha)

This does limit things a little but its not a problem. What budget have you set... You will need to set one or its not really do-able. To get the best for your bucks it pays to plan what your doing before you do it.

Some cheap mods are
Panel filter
lightened flywheel
Ported/polished throttle body
de-cat
remap

however, I am not a lover of boy racer mods so I would go for

Throttle bodies
Gas-flowed head
Lightened and balanced bottom end
Forged rods and H/C pistons
Mild inlet cam

set you back about £2k but you would have a monster engine the envy of all on here. It would scream........yummy

Has less restrictive manifolds on the saxo, and maybe a couple of other things but the block is the same.

the engine cast is the same but the internal is different.

conrod and piston are different; head is different so as the cams.

As much as i like turbos, a mod to get lower down power would be a super charger, no lag.

I have seen someone put the 206 xsi engine in a 106 and it was tuned to over 200bhp so it is very tuneable. Kam racing do a lot of engine mods for the 1.6 if i remember correctly.
