Hi All,

New to the forum and hoping to find some informed members with answers! Apologies if this question is elsewhere, I had a search and quick scan but couldn't find anything relelvant.

I have a W-reg 1.9 diesel, which has been laid up for some time with a knackered starter motor and ignition coil (I think!). My Mum drove it last and somehow the starter motor was spinning continually during her journey, regretfully she failed to notice Sad We've replaced the starter motor and ignition barrel, obviously acquiring a different key in the process but also keeping the original so it would 'talk' to the immobiliser chip. This worked briefly but the car now fails to start, just spinning over and not firing. We presume this is due to the immobiliser preventing the engine from starting. After much fiddling and messing about we're happy now to just disconnect the immobiliser and get the car running, however this obviously isn't something it's easy to find 'instructions' for, for obvious reasons. We've found four wires leading into the unit, grey purple blue and yellow, and presumably it's just a case of cutting and connecting the right ones. I'm hoping somebody might have some clues on this?!

My e-mail is below should anybody prefer to send me a private message rather than publish the answer on an open forum. We're not thieving anybody's pride and joy, just trying to get my trusty old oil burner roaring again!

Thanks all, Kris.

Have you removed the transponder chip from the replacment key?

If you have 2 transponder chips for the same type of immobiliser system next to each other when you go to start it can cause all sorts of problems.
