Hi all ive recently bought a second hand 206 1.9d LX 2001 and been right through the forum looking for the problems im having and had no joy (I may not be asking the right questions)

Firstly central locking, my fob is just flashing when I press the single button i have followed all the instructions on how to re-sync and had no joy, but i dont mind using the key, just a bit annoying the only way to lock the boot and other 3 doors (quick way) is ignition on lock all doors via the door pin ignition off open drivers door then lock it with the key. To open I open the drivers door, key in the ignition and all doors open :S.

Secondly the tricky one each time i put the key in the ignition the clocks reset back to 0.00 and the mileage i have done that day vanishes and goes back for example i have 60k on the clock and do 6 miles so i would of done 60,006 i turn off the engine and it goes back to 60k but whilst driving i see the trip and mileage going up just doesn't save may not be a bad thing keeping the mileage at the same point but in my eyes it needs sorting out

just curious if anyone can help out on this Smile Thanks in advance

Sounds like you need a new cluster

You want to get the cluster issue fixed otherwise between MOT's it will show a milage of 0 difference which, if you ever come to sell it will make people think its been parked up for years or clocked back before each MOT Razz

Mileage issues easily put people off buying a car Razz

Please Dont take any of my posts as written fact. They are simply my opinion and although to the best of my knowledge true, the information within them may well be incorrect.

Any work you undertake as a result of my posts is done so at your own risk Smile

Ive changed the cluster and still having same issues, baring it has saved a few miles Very Happy ... since having more time to check the car over it has no interior power once the ignition is turned off, that and the cigarette lighter doesn't work at all... ive checked tis fuse numerous times and no joy... any suggestions or anyone had the same problem?

Is it the trip data that is resetting or the actual mileage?

Might need the key recoding to the car, as it might not be the original so resyncing won't work

its the trip data thats resetting to what it was at the start of the journey when i turn off the ignition along with no interior lights (which all work with the ignition on) and the clock (and cd player) reset back to 1.00,

You have a dodgy positive feed then somewhere. You should have a constant +12volts, but currently it's only working when you have power to the ignition. Looks like its a wiring diagram and multimeter time!

a little more info now im back in the house:
ignition turned on no problems but clock and cd player clock reset to 1.00 everything works as it should mileage goes up all instruments work baring cigarette lighter (fuse checked but ok)
ignition turned off no power to C/L no interior lights
ignition turned back on mileage (sometimes) goes back to what it was at the start of the journey and trip goes to 147.3 miles regardless

ive searched everywhere looking for the same or similar problems the only one that i can relate to is a '98 Plymouth Grand Voyager where its said to be a IOD fuse but cant find any information on this ( not sure if i can post links so google Circuit breaker - battery power w/ign. off)

So does the mileage reset or not? One post you are saying it does, the next post you are saying it's just the trip.

Central locking never works then?

Interior light work when you unlock the car or open the doors?

it is confusing to describe ill start again Smile

Central locking when i put the key in the drivers door the drivers door only opens (same with passenger door only opens on passenger side) i put the key in the ignition and all doors and boot opens. To lock the doors/boot i leave the ignition on lock all doors inside the car using the pin and turn off the ignition and open the drivers side pin and lock it using the key manually. there is no power getting to the doors when the ignition is off.

Interior lights all work perfectly when the ignition is on, but do not work when the ignition is off.

Cigar lighter does not work regardless fuse's has been checked and found to be ok

Clock in the car works if i don't mind changing the time every time i put the key in the ignition

Mileage when on a journey i see the mileage going up so eg 60k on the clock i do 50 miles 60,050 once i turn off the ignition it will "more often" go back to 60k so the 50 mile journey i done did not add to the mileage. on the odd occasion it does save and add's to the mileage. the trip starts at 147.3 and it does go up on a journey but first thing i turn off the ignition it goes back to 147.3.

I have changed the cluster and checked all the fuses but first thing the key is out of the ignition there seems to be no power getting anywhere interior wise. I have not yet checked any of the wires using a multimeter but i agree with Lee's post about a dodgy positive feed.

hope this one helps out a bit more,
