Slow down then, make sure the plugs and air filter are clean, the thermostat isn't sticking and sit at 60mph, you should break 40mpg easy

Thermostat changed a few weeks ago and car is now averaging 33mpg on 5 mile journeys. That will soon pay for itself.

33mpg = 19p per mile just for fuel costs!!!!!!!!

Getting 30 mpg mainly in town driving, pretty decent for a 180. Reading some are getting around the same figure in their 1.4 is surprising.

180 is a much more modern engine and fuelling system.

180 is 16V and multi point injection.

1.4 is 8V and single point injection.

I also suspect the ecu engine control will be much tighter on the 180 than the 1.4.

my 1.4 8v 206 is not doing good mpg round town long runs out i would say i am doing about 35 40 at most but heard peugeot 206s are never good on petrol my last car a 1.4 16v rover 45 was better. then before that 1.7 diesel corsa b was much better but because it was diesel just thought i would bring that up because diesels are always going to get better and boost gauges can be put in them lmao

If it helps revive this old thread, I suggest people sign up for Fuelly.com and add their current fuel up statistics. The more data is in there, the easier it is to find out if your readings are normal or abnormal. Bonus: you can get a nice picture to go with your signature for all forums you visit Smile
