Why didn't Peugeot engineer the design of the gearbox to something a bit better with the later 206 models? The gearbox in the 180 is just as sloppy as the gearbox in a 1999 LX. That was my first surprise when I changed vehicles, just the same crap gearbox, the feel is better but has problems going into 1st and 2nd at times as the same as the old hatchbacks.

Everything else pretty much has improved nicely.. if I can get smooth 1st and 2nd gear changing then it would be a whole lot nicer car to drive!

I don't know if all 206's are like the one I've driven, but the gear changes felt about as tight as a chinese guy shagging Jordan.

Yeah, all Peugout and Citroens have the same crappy gearshift
(Except the C1 and 107)
Really does let the car down, which is a bit of a shame but as long as it selects gears, all well and good!

I don't know if they make them for the 180 but you may want to try upgraded gear linkages

Later MA & BE gearbox on 206 also use a cable set up, no idea why PSA bothered to change it for the 206 Laughing

Thats because the C1 & 107 use a TOYOTA engine & gearbox, the electrics are all Toyota as well.

Only things PSA on those ( apart from Peugeot / Citroen badges ) are the diesel engine, the wing side repeaters & the seats.

Is that the reason why peugeotsport didn't use 107 in rallying? Laughing

never know that before

Can be improved no end if the Control arm nylon ball is worn and the pin in the selector gearbox arm is replaced.
