So basicaly i got into car around half hour ago started up as fine always has reversed about 5 foot and stop light began to flash along with oil warning light showing but then both would go off when acclerating and then come back again when the car stop or was slowing down

I did but a single shot of redex in by accident with half a tank of petrol couldnt tell how much id put in

So i dont know if the redex is messing with it or if its the oil as its needed a service this 2500 miles

its a 1.1 2005 with 53500 miles on the clock so if anyone could help itd be much appreciated

Check your oil level in the engine bay asap

If you put too much additive in you may have offset the weight of the oil meaning it is running too thin, thereby reducing the oil pressure. When it is too low you will get a instrument panel party...

Recommend checking oil like Imilligan said, and if ok and still warning to drain and refill pronto

So went checked oil seems very thin not lumpy or anything just thin. Have new oil here but its 5/30W would the wee pug be okay on that?
Gonna have to service it now anyway as all I need is sparkplugs and then ill put some extra petrol in along with what's already there in the hope it can dilute it some?

But what I don't understand is why would the warning lights come on flash and go off?

Did you check the level?
If that's ok you might have a problem with your pressure sensor or oil pump.

5w30 is to thin. 5w40 is reccomended.

OMFG!!! It was clearly too late to be reading that! I thought we were talking oil additive.

100% agree. 5w30 will "wee" out every gasket...

So update warning lights only come on when car is idling once I drive or rev its fine. Have car booked in to garage for service and few other wee jobs Smile .. Also lost the rag in halfords over selling me the wrong oil and it was my fried who served me!!! anyway come monday she should be back to herself Smile

The 5w is for the cold, the 30 is for when it's warm. It will be thinner when warm.

Your right, should have put hot. The oil still won't 'wee' out of every gasket though.

Just looked at the oil I used when I serviced my car couple weeks ago and they gave me 5w 30 instead of the 5 w40 I asked for but it's to late now Iv already serviced it, :/
