hey there, i have a feeling i know what the answer is going to be here  but as some of you may know i have lowered my car on coilovers and have them set rather low, sometimes when cornering my tyres rub on the inner arches, are they important to keep in or can i just take them out

they stop mud and s**t from getting in places its not wanted take them out and you will get very rusty very quickly
altho get some tie wraps and some self tapping screws and you can set them back a bit further might stop them from rubbing

As above I wouldn't take them out, will rot a lot quicker without them as it will collect dirt easier and damp.

try to get a lower side walls tires,that will make the rubbing issue go away,but it will cost you more.

I asked the same question the other day, simple answer is you need smaller rubber, what are you running on at the moment? I would assume it's around 205/50 ish?
Long and more expensive answer is,
Arches rolled/flared
Spacers

My gti was lowered 40mm i think before i had it, was running with 17s and 205-45-17 tyres and they rubbed on full lock on the splash guards. I have a set of splash guards if you need to replace them. My answer would be to use smaller profile rubber or fit spacers and rool the archs.
