You already know my thoughts on this car Smile sweet and such a stylish car dude

When its on the road you, me, Lee and Jensen will need a photoshoot

If it was my car i would go for a red and white theme and seeing it being done before is very nice and such a head turner

Also dont forget mate that i can do that carbon wrapping for you as and when just let me know Smile

Biggest mistake I made was buying my 180 @ 18, paid 9k for the car and £4250 TPFT apparently your're not meant to be able to drive such a car till your 21, that was 7 yrs ago now though ha.

Looks nice.

I want to revert mine to honey combs but cba to faf with it all tbh lol

Remapping is defo worth it, I had a generic Angel Tuning remap and although it wasn't custom to my mods the car moved!

Jesus that’s a hell of allot of cash to spend at 18 Shocked i couldn’t bring myself to that to be honest :')
Cheers and i just like the originality of the honey comb Smile

Well i think ill have to get it remapped if it really does make a difference, did you have an aftermarket filter or stainless steel exhaust on aswell ?? Or did you just use a generic map to run without modifications???

Haha yeah the 180 wasn't that old at the time though tbf, was like 2 yr old I think.

My first 180 had a Scorpion catback & the same filter as my current one. The map Nigel from Angel tuning put on was apparently tweaked abit for the mods but was by no means custom.

I wouldn't use Angel again, although they have had along time to get things sorted and more reliable. It took 3 attempts to map my old 180! Go to RSTuning in Leeds, will cost around £300 just been quoted.

what sort of bhp do you think youd get from just a remap on the 180??

I don't know mate, depends on the car but IIRC it's up to 10bhp possibly more, possibly less.

It's not just about bhp though.

It makes a huge difference on the car IMO.

And, you do mods before you get a car mapped unless you aren't modding and just want the ecu mapped. Even with a generic map the car will still make use of the mods installed just not as efficiently IIRC.

i gave RS Tuning a ring today and they told me that if they did a remap for me i should expect to see around +10bhp with a janspeed and a K&N panel filter, i also asked if they’ve mapped gti 180's that run up rated cams and they said yes but the gains are so little its not worth the money so i think ill just wait and buy a janspeed exhaust and get it re-mapped by them Smile

Yeah they mean gains in BHP. That doesn't mean everything you know! Most cars gain around 10-20 bhp mapped so will the 180 closer to 10 though. A Cam'd and mapped 180 would d**k a mapped 180 all day long.

For the money however camming a 180 isn't worth it.

thinking about it camming isnt really very practical is it, i mean i dont think youd notice much change if you were driving the car too and from work every day in terms of power but i bet it gobbles more fuel as the VVT would kick in earlier wouldnt it??, but if you were racing it etc. then yeah cams would be beneficial, i know what your saying about the feel of the car when re mapped.

from what i gathered off the guy from RS Tuning there is an improvement to be had from a standard 180 when mapped without the sports exhaust or change in filter.

Modding isn't very practical! You don't modify a car trying to alter it's performance with MPG in mind (sorry shouldn't lol)! When RSTuning map your car they will lower the VVT kick in too you know... so it will drink more fuel, people say you can achieve better MPG but when the powers available that goes out the window lol.

Map any standard car and there is an improvement to be had mate.

What you will notice with the 180 is they brake easily, so parts are going to go quicker and be expensive to replace.

Owned 2 and although they're nice cars they're money pits, more so when modded and used how they were meant to be not fannying around looking good hurhurhur.

Mapping a 180 is probably the best mod you can do bar sort the suspension. They can be quite quick if you have a goodn'

yeah i know what you mean but what i should of said was that changing the cams will alter the fuel input a lot more than just a remap Smile from what youve stated above jamie, thats exactly the reason i dont want to f***y around any more than fitting an exhaust and getting a remap (engine wise)

Update 2: I stiripped Down the front brakes and gave them a good clean up and also painted the calipers red, whilst I was doing this I checked the front disks.... They were absolutely shot through, the back side of them was so thin they looked like they had just given up on life Laughing so replaced them aswell as new ferodo premium pads. I've also now polished the inlet manifold a bit and took the top cambelt cover off to see if it had any major wear on it which it didn't but It's 8 years old now so I thought it would be best to get it done, I looked into doing it myself as I'm a fitter but iv got that much on at the minute and I think I'd need to allow a couple of days to get it right, I just can't fit it in so I rang a local garage and they want £280 to do it including the cam belt kit but no water pump but then again the pump shouldn't have much wear with it only having 37k miles,
What do you guys think to the quote I got and the water pump situation ???

It's been a stupidly long time since I updated this thread, not a lot has changed yet but things are being prepared before fitting Wink
I got some avo coilovers from dan (thank you dan Wink )and I have to say try make a massive differance when hard cornering , through the summer I had the dampening set pretty solid Because I love my smooth B roads Razz
But now iv softened them up a bit for winter. Height wise iv only lowered it to match the rear at the moment but I'm going to lower it a bit more in February maybe March.

Iv bought myself some challengers off my mate to refurbish for £100, I know I know they're not the same as vortex's but they have never been kerbed, just have a bit of flaking on the paint. So I'm going to get a full set of tyres fitted but unsure as to which ones to get yet, I also will need some 5mm minimum spacers and a new set of bolts.
The only thing I'm unsure about with these wheels is what colour to spray them, I'm tied between an anthracite base coat and a black base coat... What I am sure about is the blue ghost pearl that will give almost a flip paint effect.
Leemadden sorted me out with a spare set of crystals that I will be spraying matt black in January or February.
I have also bought myself a honeycombe grill !! Finally thanks to Doncaster motorspares it was brand new unpackaged for £35 !! Bargin
And iv painted and fitted a set of sp arches thanks to ianlovatte Wink
I haven't got many pictures to post up other than the ones with the arches and ones of the challengers but ill get them uploaded later.

So what shal I do about the colour on the wheels , do I go anthracite or black base coat ?? Whatever colour I do them I'm doing my mirror caps the same
