There's no point posting anywhere about it. Everyone thinks they're s**t. Only owners tend to disagree.

I put it down to the reviews from select respected magazines, most people are like sheep and need to be herded. I bet you if the likes of EVO had of said, finally the 206 has been made in to what it should have always been. Everyone wouldn't dismiss them as they do, they're often compared to the 172's/182's and there really isn't much in it sure the RS might be a little quicker around a twisty circuit but not by as much as people would think after what you read.

I recently started a thread on Saxperience for fun asking what peoples favourite French hot hatch is... Idea was to state your favourite and post up information about it and maybe a brief paragraph, as I've owned two and like them mine happens to be, for the money sub 4k *as I'd never spend big money on a performance French hatch* the 206 GTi180.

Straight away, my choice was blasted. " The 206 GTI is the worst GTI ever produced, some say its a poor excuse for a GTI lol"

I know most of these people haven't even driven one and it really gripes me when people just post on a subject when they are talking bulls**t. Most of the posters who posted are well known posters, the class clowns I like to think of them as they post all day about bulls**t and earn big eReps, now when they post on a subject like so all the little'lens believe what they're saying and even if people don't agree they won't question them.

It's only the internet so I thought fuckit I know these people are just posting for postings sake and questioned it and they all turn on me hahaha.

They didn't like me defending my choice that I've owned and experienced, also 2 of my close friends had 182's so I know there is naff all in it really.

Luckily I don't have my 180 because I care about what everyone else likes, it's also not the first time I've been called a GTi180 fan boy for defending them. I'm not a fan boy there are a million other cars I'd sooner own, I just don't see why people hate on them sooo much!

If I could ever be asked I'd love to see a 206 GTi /180 VS Clio RS track day (obviously limited to 172/182/197's)

Although it would be up in the air, I.e. different track exp ect ect it would be good for people to see that the 206 GTI/180 isn't as s**te as made out.

A bit long.com though lol.

What He Said

seems these threads pop up nearly every week now getting sick of readingthem. if people who have never driven let alone owned a 180 want to slag them off then you crack on.

i bought my 180 when it was virtually brand new at the time i also drove a clio 182 and a fiesta st and prefer the spec and everyday drivability the 180 has (i.e. virtually everything is an extra on the 182/st where as all the goodies are standrard spec on the 180). to me the overall power isnt the only thing that matters on a car its how pleasing it is to live with it on an everyday basis.
i 've had my 180 5 years and done over 55k behind the wheel. iv loved every second of it and i cant fault the car what so ever. its been reliable, fun and fairly decent on fuel for what it is and i have no plans to sell anytime soon unless i really have to.
at the prices good 180's are going for now id say they are a cracking car for the money and would reccomend it to anyone

Iv only had my 180 on the road since the 6th of June and I tell you what I've done some bloody millage already and it's brilliant, always puts a smile on my face when an 18 year old in some little corsa thinks your in a 1.1 or something and try's to pull away then you just take them on the first "safe" bend Smile they always seem to look angry.... No idea why haha

I've had my 180 for a few months and it doesn't put a smile on my face. It's too slow and under steers too much. I won't be keeping it very long.
Understeer is a crime.

A bit long.com though lol.

My 206 138 isn't even remotely close to my 197 Cup.. In a straight line it would put a lot of distance between them, on the brakes it would hammer it (4 pot Brembos standard) but more so round the corners, well, I can't even describe tbh! The 206 isn't even on the same page it would have absolutely zero chance of gettin close! Get out of the Clio and into the 206 and it feels like it'll roll over in a corner..

Still, I quite like driving the 206.. It's just a bit crap!

It wouldn't be it's like 60+ bhp difference on name figures ie 138 & 197, and say 138's make 120+ and 197's make 170+ it's still 50bhp.

Put my old 300bhp Focus ST against another 250bhp ST and the 300 would leave it for dead...

197 - 180 Very close on straights, the 197's are quite wide compared so should be better. 172/182's very similar from what I've seen.
