Hi all! I'm just after some advice regarding a friends 206. A car bumped into her in a car park and damaged the front wing, just cosmetic damage. This was replaced under the insurance however the garage that did the repairs said that they believed that both the front wishbones and both the front ARB drop links were bent and needed replacing due to a previous incident. I've had a good look and I can't see anything obvious. I've never worked on a 206 before though so I'd like a second opinion from someone who is more familiar.

It really is almost imposible to tell if they are bent even seeing them in reality rather that through pictures.

A bent drop link would make no difference to the car as long as it is still connected and the ball joint hasnt broken.

A wishbone would make the steering pull in a directon or cause it to be unstable.

If you dont notice anything then just leave it.

That drop link looks fooked to me and where the wishbone sits in the sub frame looks wrong too. More wear and tear than a result of an accident

You would know if the drop link was damaged the car would rattle over just about every bump in the road.

How bad was the damage? I find it hard to believe it was only cosmetic damage but yet they think it was caused by it

Wishbone seems fine, drop link looks odd but I can tell you 100% it wouldn't have been from a car driving in it in a car park..

Thanks for the replies. Sorry I didn't quite make it clear what I meant. The garage picked up on the wishbones and drop links whilst fixing the wing. They were caused by seperate incidents apparently and so the arb is historical damage unrelated to the car park incident. It doesn't rattle so that leads me to think the damage might not be causing any issues with the car?

If you are fussed get a garage to examine it, no one will be able to tell you on here

If it doesn't rattle or feel like it's dodgey to drive I would personally leave it

The wishbones and droplinks look knackered, but through age, not damage. Does this car knock when driving?

What is it that you think looks knackered about the drop links and wishbones? My instinct was that the actual roll bar itself might be out of shape. There is no knocking to mention really. The point where the arb and drop links meet just look very low under the car. Thanks guys

what sort of speed was the bump on the car park ?

if it was just a ding on a car park then at worst may be a bent track rod but no way is it doing the droplinks, anti roll bar & wishbones.

ps ... cv boot rubber looks like it's split / leaking in the 4th pic Wink

Just looks like wear and tear. The ball joints just look worn due to the deterioration on the rubbers.

Hard to tell properly from pictures tho.

The antiroll bar on the 206 does run very low. You also have the car on full droop in these pictures which may fool you into thinking they are lowever than they would be when the weight of the car is on it.
