My Peugeot 206 2003 is having a hard time downshifting it feels as if I am braking, and also it is hesitating in some gears.

I have changed my three engine / gear mountings (one right one left and one big down).

What could be the problem?

Thanks

My car is automatic gearbox, and no I didnt change gear oil, I just got it one month ago. But I did go to a famous service shop and they said that we cant change oil of the gear box it shoud be done only in the dealer shop. Is changing gear oil simple? That i can do it my self? Is that a known fact for my gearboxb behaviour

The issue is, the auto gearbox ECU keeps track of the condition of the oil in a basic way, by counting the number of starts the car does, and the number of miles or time it runs (can't remember which). When you top it up, you're supposed to connect a computer to the auto ECU and tell it that you've done that, so it knows some new oil has gone in, and keeps track of the quality of the oil properly. So if you were to completely drain and refill it, you'd need to do this. The worst that could happen if you don't, though, is the computer would erroneously think the oil's 'worn out' and flash the sport and winter mode lights on the dash to indicate as such.

not every garage know how to deal with AL4 box.

go to auto gearbox specialist to deal with it.

ideally you need LT 71141 oil (need to keep changing oil a few times in order to renew all the oil ) and peugeot planet to do the oil change.

and most likely you might have to change the solenoid (s) or gear switch

The AL4 box is a load of w**k, why people dont do some research BEFORE buying a PSA car with it fitted ill never know Rolling Eyes

Wouldnt touch an AL4 with a barge pole.

What do you do if you need an auto box, and want a 206?

Autobox & 206 just isnt worth the trouble.

Nobody really wants a 206, there just a small cheap to run car that is average to drive.
