Im looking at getting an exhaust but on ebay there's 2 different ones.
One is for a 1.6 16v and one for a 1.6i 16v....
which one do i need? i have a 1.6 16v XSi? or is there an easy way to find out, as one of the exhaust has a bulge in one of the pipes that the other one doesnt.

Iv had:
1.1 106 - 1.4 206 sport - 206 GTi180 - Subaru impreza wrx - 1.6 206 XSI
Now : GTi 180 again - Build thread

They are both the same thing, 'i' after the engine size just means injection (petrol)

Do you have links to the items?

The bulge on one of them is a midpipe silencer, basically the one without the bulge will probably be louder as they've labelled it as 'race' exhaust as well. The one with more pipes goes from the bottom of the manifold, and the one with less pipes is just from the centre back

I have no idea why they have two variants where the decision to include an extra pipe or not is made. The cat is on the manifold on your car so a cat back will be the one with the longer pipework, I can tell by the flange on the extra pipe is the one that connects to the manifold down pipe - for the sake of £4 I'd go for that one

Yep, Sportex brought a lot of confusion into the mix, they were trying to make their 'race' and 'performance' exhausts look different from one another. With the 'performance' one you'd retain the old front section pipe, and the race one has a new front section pipe. Aside from the middle silencer box and the noise, I doubt there would be much difference between the two.

Unfortunately I don't think Janspeed make a cat back system for the 1.6 16v
